My Heart Just Can't Hide That Old Feeling Inside
GUYS. If you read Tsubasa and are marginally interested in Kurogane/Fai, you need to check out [info]hang_nga_79's SUMMER CONTEST. ♥ HG never does anything halfway so there are literally dozens of prizes and categories and drawings and all around awesomeness. There is a website to make for easier browsing of the rules and possible ways to enter. This is a top-notch contest and I would highly recommend entering if you're a fan of that particular pairing. I'm actually going to be entering a contest piece myself ((I'm taking the plunge, [info]songofthehawk!)). This will be the first time I've written anything lengthy for the fandom. NOTHING LIKE A LITTLE PRESSURE. Join me? ★

And you know what, I just thought of a title for it. Good gracious.

FYI - There will be no third part to the APOCALYPTIC!NejiTen. I started writing it but I really liked where the second part (which is really the first part) ended, so I think I'm going to stop while I'm ahead. I might eventually finish what I've written already and just make it a one-shot unto itself.

Also, some of you might like to hear that I finally talked to my mom about how hung up I still am about the situation with my sister. My mom recently had a very revealing family discussion with my dad's side of the family and they sorted some things out that he and my stepmom had been repressing for awhile. So she asked me how she could make things better between Jennifer and I and I promptly burst into tears. )

More Rome discs are on their way to my mailbox. I think it's time to start posting my thoughts!

Du vett at det blir varmt, sant. Sant du vett det blir varmt~
Soooo right. We were watching random tv shows when I get up because I thought I smelled something burning. This happens to me a lot, I'm paranoid about fire and I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night because I think I smell something burning. Colour me all kinds of shocked, though because when I lean out our window I see FIRE. Huge friggin' flames and aaaah. @_@ At first I thought it was a car D: Which would have been bad. Turns out it was a dumpster.

We called the fire department, heard people out on the street yelling "OMG CALL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT" and general craziness. Then we decided to make a little video of what was happening.

Enjoy~

Iryu: Team Medical Dragon
[info]lesbiassparrow, you HAVE to watch this. It's perfect.

Here's a rundown of episode one. So many great things happen in this show. Episode one alone has two epic medical emergency moments! It's like someone took House MD, got rid of the screenwriters and hired trained monkeys to write the scripts instead, and then made it all... Japanese. That last factor alone guarantees a certain measure of bizarre awesomeness that only the Japanese can bring. Plus bogus medicine, the best crack of all. The show even does that cg graphic thing where it illustrates the symptoms/failing organs like in House. Only here it looks like human innards are made of plasticine.

The Medical Dragon has ARRIVED. )

BROKEN! A Most Unfortunate Shuffle.
Wai Wai

Here's something that has nothing to do with politics!

So I have a perfectly functional 60GB iPod photo but it's a rather massive brick of an iPod. For everyday use I pretty much used my 1GB shuffle that I got for free when I signed up for my cellphone plan back in first year.

Anyway, I went to go charge my shuffle last week in preparation for my GO Train ride to Barrie, but much to my horror this happened:

I appeared to have pulled the USB off instead of just pulling off the cap, ripping the strip that connected the USB to the shuffle... it can still play but I won't be able to charge it again, so it's essentially useless and broken. I was pretty horrified when this happened and messaged [info]pandi right away, who promptly called me to inquire what happened and then proceeded to laugh at my misfortune. Oh to be me...

I really liked my shuffle, it was convenient but I had thought about buying one of the new ones. One problem I had, especially since I pretty much always wear skirts/dresses that don't have pockets, is that I often have to put my shuffle in my purse or hold it in my hand when I'm walking about. The clip on the smaller, new shuffles is really convenient for me. So I discussed it with [info]pandi and decided to go out and buy a new one (the Eaton Centre is essentially next door to me anyway...)

I'm not especially fond of the brushed-metal look, but I had pretty much decided on getting the red one for a while ♥ plus, it's more Liberal... Also, though not really intentional on my part, it's part of PROJECT (RED) so part of my purchase went towards the Global Fund to fight AIDS in Africa.

I'm still getting used to it, but I rather like it ♥
Oh, and I really liked taking the train, it was calming...

ROFL

So I went shopping for clothes today with ebc's mom, and I was supposed to look for a new warm hoodie and a new pair of pants. And what did I get?? A t-shirt and two pairs of underwear!! XD What the heck is wrong with me!! They were cheap, though... :3 But still! I need warm clothes because I didn't pack enough warm clothes for coming here. Oh well. I'll manage... Even if I've been now wearing old and weary sweatpants because my jeans are in the laundry XD ROFL (They're the Adidas pants that I got from Sara when I was like 12, so they're second-hand and a decade old)

Man I'm so stupid... They even had this offer, two for 25 dollars, for these woollen hoodies... But I didn't like them because I felt that they were too short (I mean that they barely reached the waist, and I like mine covered)... But if I wasn't so picky, right now I could be sporting a pink hoodie... I'm so stupid... LOL

Anyway that's enough babbling about shopping :3

Update on Cali's drama watching progress
1) Am I the only one who finds the poster for Maou really hilarious? Every time I see it on my flist I start laughing.

2) Code Blue episode one is out. I want to watch it but I am so lazy to download. Refer to #3.

3) I also want to watch beyond episode 1 of IRYU: TEAM MEDICAL DRAGON but I can't!!! My problem is I have all these dramas and shows on my hard drive in a million pieces but I can't join them because I don't have enough drive space.

4) I think I'll wait for Osen to be subbed completely before continuing with it. Again, this is indirectly because of #3.

5) Iguana no Musume: AGAIN, NOT ENOUGH DRIVE SPACE FOILS MY EVERY MOVE AND DESIRE. ANGST.

Don't you all wish, like I do, that dramas would be released in a more regular file size? Most american tv rips are on average 350mb an episode. I feel that is a decent enough size to maintain reasonable quality for something that is about 40 minutes long - which is approximately the length of one jdrama episode, anyway. I don't understaaaaand. Why the crazy need for 1~gig avi files? *grumbles*

Fic: Umbrage
Title: Umbrage
Pairing: Ayumu/Hiyono
Fandom: Spiral Anime (no spoilers, really)
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Spiral is not mine.
Summary: An unprecedented Hunter viciously attacks the Blade Children, leaving Hiyono hospitalized for a gunshot wound and Ayumu furious.
Notes: I don't know if this even makes sense... it's been so long since I watched the anime that I really need a refresher. If anyone is wildly out of character you are allowed to pelt me with rotten fruit.

( but how I wish it was your temper you were throwing/ damn you for being so easygoing )

Zero/Kaname "Listen and Submit, My Servant"
NEW FANDOM. ♥ I promised [info]hang_nga_79 a "Zero feeds from Kaname" scene ages ago and I have finally delivered! And please note that it's not really Zero/Kaname in the way we usually think. It's basically HATE!feeding because, honestly, they despise each other but there are definitely hints of the pairing if that's what you're looking for. It's ambiguous for just that reason. ((Because, admit it, you know it would be hot.))

Title: Listen and Submit, My Servant
Series: Vampire Knight
Pairings/Characters: Zero/Kaname, Zero & Kaname
Word Count: 796
Rated: PG-13

I made my first Blue Hawaiian this weekend.
This weekend was marked by a wedding (hurray!) and company and lots and lots of good conversation with Yuki. There are so many things to love about this relationship, including but not limited to the ability to have conversations where we can be fully honest with each other and not feel horrible about it. This relationship continues to be so breath-takingly right. I'm so very, very lucky.

Saturday saw Anne get married to her boy from college. They both looked so incredibly happy it was wonderful to see and be there, and the reception was fun. I saw lots of people I haven't seen in a while. Additionally, it spurred some conversation and thinking for me and these are always good things. I was on dress-fixing duty for most of the evening (the bustle just wouldn't stay up) but it was all good and everyone was very happy.

Sunday was into the city with Kara and her boy to walk around for a bit before the airport. I found a wonderful little herb store that I'll have to go back to, although I miss Mystickal Voyage. I'm on a quest to find one of those incense burners (the spiral one) and the powder that goes with them. I'll resort to ordering online if I have to, but I really wish I could find someplace locally so I could smell the incense. Either that, or a trip back to MD, but that seems somewhat less likely. The herb store did have a good selection of tarot cards, though. All of this jumps back to my need to look at priorities and set them and find that happy balance.

And dammit, I will. This week. Plus I will also accomplish things in lab. I feel better already for having sorted through the scientific papers I have on the computer, although I need to finish getting all of the citations into EndNote, etc. I have a naming system now too, that will help me keep track of those pesky papers. This is a wonderful thing. The feeling of making forward progress is a good one.

Yuki is also one of the most wonderful people I have ever met. I don't think I can say that enough. Seven months and the only bit that's worn off is the complete and utter disregard for reality - all of the happiness and smiling and ability to talk and be silly and spend time together easily is still there. Love is truly a wonderful and amazing thing. I'm very thankful I've found it.

次の挑戦はコレダ!
Oh Gamecenter, why do you hurt me so? XD

I've briefly mentioned Gamecenter here before, but now I want to talk about it again. Gamecenter CX is a Japanese TV show where a guy (Arino) is challenged to play (often ridiculously hard) games. Most of them for the original Nintendo, though he has done challenges on the Xbox and PS2 (among others) as well.

It may not sound like a lot of fun watching some poor guy struggle his way through retro games, but you start to really feel for him. Especially when he loses his last life on a boss he's tried to beat 30 times in a row (and consequently has to start the game all over again 8D). It's a mess trying to find Gamecenter videos on youtube, but there is one user who seems to upload full episodes... it's just difficult trying to piece them together @_@; Here's the start of Arino's Super Mario World challenge (with a look back on his previous Mario challenges). Just to give all of you a taste of the show.

In 2007, Gamecenter made their own game. For the DS. It's a brilliant little game. In it, Arino is the one giving you challenges. The game is filled with retro game clones/parodies and Arino will give you silly challenges for them. Things like "Score 50000 points here to move on to the next challenge", "clear the first stage without using your shuriken", "do the first race without drifting" etc, etc. I played this game all day yesterday @_@; When you're tired of doing challenges, you can also play the retro games just.. as regular games. I managed to actually beat one of them. Ahahahha XD

Pictures and more game babble... )

In other news~ I'll be seeing Kaizers Orchestra live again 8D This Friday, in Ålesund. Ahahaha, we're set to leave on Thursday, we'll order tickets tonight and go pick them up tomorrow. Iiiih, I am excited. I also hope Ålesund will shine with perfect weather all Friday long, since they're doing the show outdoors. Whaaaa~
